Octopus Mitten Pattern

Inspired by Jules Verne, I made these mittens for my son after seeing him playing in the snow pretending to be Captian Nemo manning the Nautulis. Upon seeing these mittens his imagination was further ignited to the deep depths as he named the octopus Ollie.

These mittens are crocheted with the waistcoat stitch to create a tight weave against the winter elements. This pattern includes a chart and written crochet instructions. The materials and supplies needed are listed along with the stitch abbreviations used in this pattern. A brief explanation of the main stitch, the waistcoat stitch is also included.

My son loves these mittens and no longer complains of cold fingers as he plays. His favorite feature is how the tentacles wrap around his hand and thumb.

I hope you enjoy stitching these mittens as much as I did creating them!
